Get a marriage license

Apply online, then both applicants visit the Probate Court in Pembroke or Richmond Hill with photo ID. The license costs $77, or $37 with premarital counseling.

How long it takes:
Licenses are issued 8:15 a.m.–4:30 p.m., Monday–Friday, excluding holidays.

How it works

  1. Complete the online application; it stays on file for 10 days.
  2. Call the Pembroke or Richmond Hill office to schedule an appointment.
  3. Both applicants appear in person with photo ID and proof of age, signed in before 4:30 p.m.
  4. If either of you was married before, bring the divorce or annulment decree for the most recent marriage.
  5. The Probate Judge does not perform wedding ceremonies.

What you need

  • Photo identification and proof of age for both applicants; applicants must be at least 17, and 17-year-olds must be emancipated.
  • A certified copy of the decree dissolving any previous marriage.
  • Premarital education certificate, if claiming the reduced fee.
  • Either applicant must be a Georgia resident, or the ceremony must take place in Bryan County.
