Title a vehicle you bought or brought to Georgia
The Tax Commissioner is the local tag agent for Georgia titles and registrations. Bring the title paperwork, your Georgia ID, and proof of insurance; title work is not accepted after 4:45 p.m.

- Title work must be started before 4:45 p.m., Monday–Friday.
How it works
- Gather the documents for your situation: a new purchase (1986 or newer, or 1985 and older), a leased vehicle, a move from another state, military, or a title from another country.
- If a dealer or lien holder applied for the title, bring the receipt they gave you.
- For out-of-state titles, get a VIN verification (form T-22B) from Georgia law enforcement.
- Visit either Tax Commissioner office before 4:45 p.m. If the vehicle is titled in two names, both owners must be present.
What you need
- The previous owner’s title (or a bill of sale for 1985-and-older vehicles).
- Georgia driver’s license or ID showing your current address.
- A 30-day insurance binder or electronic proof of Georgia insurance.
- Out-of-state vehicles: registration, lien information from the finance company, and form T-22B.
- Military: orders, LES, active-duty ID, and form PT-472NS if Georgia is not your home of record.
