Transfer or cancel a license plate
License plates belong to the owner, not the vehicle. Move a plate to your new vehicle for $5.00, or cancel it online when you sell without replacing.

- $5.00 to transfer a tag from one vehicle to another.
How it works
- To cancel: use Georgia DRIVES or turn the plate in; print the receipt for your insurance company.
- To transfer: the first owner name on the old and new vehicles must match. Register the plate to the new vehicle before displaying it.
