Apply for conservation use assessment (CUVA)
Land whose primary purpose is producing agricultural products or timber can be valued at its current use under a ten-year covenant with the County. Apply between January 1 and April 1.
- Cost:
- $25 recording fee per application.
- How long it takes:
- Applications accepted January 1 – April 1, or during the assessment appeal period.
How it works
- Confirm that 50% or more of the property is in good-faith agricultural or timber production.
- Complete the CUVA application (available from the Tax Assessor).
- Submit it between January 1 and April 1, or within the assessment appeal period.
- Appraisal staff and the Board of Assessors review the application for approval.
- Keep the land in qualifying use for the full ten years; notify the Assessor if use changes. Breaching the covenant costs twice the tax saved for every year of the exemption.
