File a property tax return

Property owners may declare their property’s value and report changes each year between January 1 and April 1. If you do not file, the County treats last year’s status and value as correct.

How long it takes:
January 1 – April 1 each year. The deadline cannot be extended.

How it works

  1. Download the Property Tax Return form, or ask the Tax Assessor for one.
  2. Report your opinion of value and any changes made to the property in the previous year.
  3. Business, aircraft, and marine personal property owners file the matching personal property return.
  4. Deliver the return to the Tax Assessor by April 1.
  5. Your assessment notice in May or June is the answer to your return; you then have 45 days to appeal.
